Department of Aging needs volunteers

Anne Arundel County Department of Aging needs volunteers to serve in multiple locations and programs around the county.

All seven senior centers need volunteers as greeters, office support, instructors and for special events. The department needs computer-literate volunteers with general office experience to help on a very flexible schedule.

Retired and Senior Volunteer Programs (RSVP) recruits volunteers age 55 and older to serve in various programs, including 19 nutrition sites, as telephone reassurance volunteers, as VITA tax volunteers and as office assistants. RSVP volunteers also serve as tutors and mentors in county schools, as administrative support with the state and county police and in other locations.

The Friendly Visitor Program needs volunteers age 21 and older to visit with isolated and lonely seniors for an hour each week. Telephone calls or a card, alternating with the visit, can help to improve their quality of life. Training is provided, and volunteers are matched with seniors who have similar interests.
