Watershed symposium set for Nov. 15 at fairgrounds

The Second Annual Patapsco Watershed Symposium will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 15 in the dining hall at the Howard County Fairgrounds in West Friendship.

Kit Valentine, president of Friends of Patapsco Valley and Heritage Greenway, will open the session at 9 a.m. Presentations will cover ground and surface water hydrology, septic systems, herbicides for horse pastures, pasture nutrition, deadly plants to avoid and conservation techniques.

Registration is requested by Friday. The cost is $5. Admission at the door costs $10.

Hospitality management open house set at HCC

Howard Community College will start its new hospitality management program with a free open house from 6:15 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. today in Room 100 of the college's Instructional Lab Building, 10901 Little Patuxent Parkway, Columbia.

Hospitality professionals will speak about careers in the rapidly growing industry.

Admission is free, but registration is requested.

Businesswomen to meet Nov. 10 in Columbia

The Columbia chapter of the American Business Women's Association will hold its monthly meeting Nov. 10 at the Sheraton Columbia Hotel.

Professional women in all fields are welcome.
