Katharine Eareckson Latrobe, a homemaker and resident of Lutherville for nearly half a century, died Monday of congestive heart failure at the Wesley Home in Baltimore. She was 83.
Katharine Dudley Eareckson was born and raised in Baltimore and was a 1938 graduate of Western High School. Her Eareckson ancestors emigrated from Sweden in 1645.
In 1938, she married Ferdinand Claiborne Latrobe III, who headed a construction company and was a descendant of seven-term Baltimore Mayor Ferdinand C. Latrobe. Her husband died in 1987.
She enjoyed growing African violets, sailing and knitting.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Oct. 3 at the Wesley Home, 2211 W. Rogers Ave.
She is survived by three sons, Ferdinand C. Latrobe IV and John H.B. Latrobe, both of Baltimore, and Charles C. Latrobe of Cockeysville; a daughter, Katharine E. Latrobe of Baltimore; a brother, Frederick Leif Eareckson Jr. of Annapolis; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
