Police are investigating the death of a woman who was struck by a car while attempting to cross a road near her West Baltimore home Sunday night.
Diane Anderson, 44, of the 700 block of Murphy Lane, was crossing the 800 block of eastbound U.S. 40 about 11:40 p.m. and was not in a crosswalk when she was struck by a 1998 Honda.

She was pronounced dead at the scene, said Officer John Peer of the accident investigation unit.
Peer said that pedestrian error was a contributing factor.

Peer said the driver, a 24-year-old man, left the scene but later contacted police and was interviewed without being charged.
