On Friday, September 12, 2003, ELIZABETH HARRISON (Stalfort) OWENS, in Charlottesville, VA; she is survived by her son John A. Stalfort II and his wife, Jan of Charlottesville, VA and her daughter, Vanessa S. Matricciani and her husband, Sam of Baltimore; grandsons Sean Stalfort and his wife Gineane of Charlottesville, VA., Jay Stalfort of Columbus, Ohio, Tony Foreman and his wife Cindy Wolf of Baltimore, MD, Clarke Foreman and his wife Karla of Baltimore, MD, and William Harrison of Raleigh, NC. Also eight great-grandchildren; Jack Stalfort, Sam Stalfort, Will Stalfort, Kathryn Foreman, Teresa Foreman, John Foreman, Zoe Harrison, and Benjamin Harrison. Mrs. Owens was preceded in death by her parents, William C. Harrison and Anne Ross Harrison; her brother, Dr. E. Ross Harrison; and her husbands, H. Alfred Stalfort and Charles J. Owens. She did volunteer work for the National Aquarium and the Baltimore Museum of Art and was a member of the women's committee. She was president of the Baltimore Symphony Woman's Association 1962-66 and was active with the Opera Guild for many years. She also did volunteer work at the Johns Hopkins Hospital, Union Memorial Hospital, the Greater Baltimore Medical Center and U.S. Lacrosse. She started the "Stardust Dinner Dances" to raise money for the Children's Hospital. Mrs. Owens was a member of the Gibson Island Club, the Baltimore Country Club, the Rehobeth Country Club, Three Arts Club, and Roland Park Women's Club. She was also a member of Preservation Maryland, the Walter's Art Gallery, and The English Speaking Union. A memorial service will be held Friday, September 19, 2003 at 1:00 at the Church of the Redeemer, Baltimore, MD. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to the League for People with Disabilities, Camp Scholarship Fund, 1111 E. Cold Spring Lane, Baltimore, MD 21239.
