Catonsville man fatally shot in Northwest area
A Baltimore County man was shot and killed late Thursday in Northwest Baltimore, becoming the 187th homicide victim of the year, police said.
Dakarai Carter, 22, of the first block of Helms Pick Court in Catonsville was shot about 9:40 p.m. in the 3500 block of Virginia Ave., police said. Carter died at Sinai Hospital about 30 minutes later, police said.

Homeless man, 41, found dead in woods
GLEN BURNIE - The body of a 41-year-old homeless man was found Thursday evening in a wooded area near Baltimore-Annapolis Boulevard in Glen Burnie, police said.
An autopsy showed that Martin David Dorsey, whose last known address was in the 300 block of Main Ave. S.W. in Glen Burnie, had died of asphyxiation, according to Anne Arundel County police. The body was found near Route 648 and Eighth Avenue.
Police are investigating the death as a homicide.

Fire destroys building, causes $600,000 in damage
WESTMINSTER - Maryland state fire marshals are investigating a fire that destroyed a Carroll County commercial building early yesterday morning, displacing three tenants and causing an estimated $600,000 worth of damage.
The building in the 900 block of Leidy Road in Westminster housed Brubaker's Guitars, Hopkins Pool Service and Carroll Masonry. A motorist passing by about 2 a.m. Friday saw the blaze and used a cell phone to call authorities.
The 1975 building was completely destroyed, but no one was injured, said W. Faron Taylor, deputy state fire marshal. The federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is participating in the investigation, Taylor said.
