Police are seeking motive, suspects in east-side shooting

Police yesterday said they were seeking suspects in a Friday afternoon shooting in East Baltimore that left one man dead and the other hospitalized with a bullet wound to the leg.

The man who died was shot in the head by a gunman who approached him and a companion about 2:45 p.m. in the 1500 block of Holbrook St., according to Officer Troy Harris, a police spokesman.

"We're looking for two or more suspects who approached the victims on foot," Harris said.

Harris said the man who was shot in the leg was taken to Johns Hopkins Medical Center for treatment.

Harris said police had not identified the man who died and declined to identify the man who was wounded. He said police had not determined a motive for the attack.
