On Wednesday, August 20, 2003 REVEREND KENNETH CARL HAMRICK, died after a 10 month battle with cancer. Rev. Hamrick was born on May 12, 1938 in Washington, DC, the son of the late Carl Hamilton Hamrick and Marjorie Marie Huffman Hamrick. Rev. Hamrick completed all of his education in Washington, DC where he was raised. He was a 1956 graduated of Western High School, a 1960 of The American Unversity and 1964 graduated of Wesley Pheological Seminary. Rev. Hamrick was ordained an elder in the Baltimore-Washington Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church where he served as a minister for 32 years. In addition, Rev. Hamrick was widely known for re-opening the Historic Eyler's Valley Chapel near Thurmont, MD in 1969 where he served as the volunteer minister for 26 years. Surviving, are five sons, Wesley Hamrick and wife Kimberly of Thurmont, MD, Pastor James Hamrick and wife Pamela of Harpers Ferry, WV, David Hamrick and wife Rebecca of Rosemont, MD, Mark Hamrick and Jonathan Hamrick both of Frederick, MD; 10 grandchildren and one brother, Eugene Hamrick of Virgina Beach. Rev. Hamrick is also remembered by his former wife of 34 years, Littie Mae Glyn-Jones and husband Robert of Hedgesville, WV and his devoted fincee F. Lucille (Lou) Birgensmith of Gettysburg, PA. Friends will be received at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 104 E. Main St. Thurmont, MD on Saturday, August 23 from 6 to 9 P.M. and Sunday, August 24 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 P.M. Funeral Services will be held at 11 A.M. on Monday, August 25 at the Thurmont United Methodist Church, 13880 Long Rd. Thurmont, MD. Interment will be in Eyler's Valley Chapel Cemetery.
