Nancy A. Sabold, admissions and development director at Chesapeake Academy and an active participant in her community, died of cancer Tuesday at her Arnold home. She was 46.
Born and raised Nancy Antoinette Sampogna in Washington, she was a graduate of St. Patrick's Academy. She earned a bachelor's degree in accounting in 1978 from George Washington University and attended Georgetown University Law School.
Mrs. Sabold was a senior program director for nine years at Singer Link Simulation in Columbia before joining the staff of Chesapeake Academy, an independent elementary school in Arnold, in 1994.
Her community activities included membership in the Severna Park July Fourth Parade Committee, the Greater Severna Park Chamber of Commerce, the Severna Park Jaycees and the YWCA of Annapolis and Anne Arundel County.
A gourmet cook, Mrs. Sabold enjoyed entertaining family and friends. She was an avid reader and a member of the Gibson Island Country Club, where she liked to golf. She recently had returned from a second home she and her husband maintained at Crawford's Pond in Warren, Maine.
Mrs. Sabold was a communicant of St. Mary Roman Catholic Church, 109 Duke of Gloucester St. in Annapolis, where a Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 9 a.m. tomorrow.
She is survived by her husband of 20 years, W. Carl Sabold, mid-Atlantic regional manager for Pernod Ricard USA, a wine and spirit supplier; a daughter, Ashleigh Brooke Sabold of Arnold; and two sisters, Anna Marie Rubino and Helen "Tweedy" Shirley, both of Silver Spring.
