CLAYTON CLARK HEMP, age 70, of Wachesaw Plantation, died Friday, August 15, 2003, at Waccamaw Community Hospital. Mr. Hemp was born November 6, 1932, in Baltimore, MD, the son of the late Sylvanus Clayton and Dorothy Francis Coomes Hemp. He was a successful real estate agent and developer in the Baltimore area before relocating with his wife to Wachesaw Plantation in 1995. He continued his real estate activities in the Myrtle Beach area. Mr. Hemp was an avid golfer. Survivors include his wife Valeta Hemp; one son, John Hemp and his wife Kaffee of Nashville, TN; one daughter, Sharon Young and her husband Joseph of New Port Richey, FL; one step son, Eddy Caglione of Myrtle Beach, SC; one sister, Beverly Gregory and her husband James of Baltimore, MD; three grandsons, John Hemp, David Hemp, Eric Young; one granddaughter, Christian Caglione; two great-grandchildren; two nephews, Clayton Otto, James Robinson; and two grandnieces. A memorial service will be held 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, August 20, 2003, at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Beach Chapel.
