Man indicted in Internet sex sting case

A 34-year-old Silver Spring man who was arrested as part of an Internet sex sting after a state trooper posed as a 12-year-old girl online was indicted on attempted rape, attempted sex offense and solicitation charges yesterday.

A Howard County grand jury returned a three-count indictment against Oscar R. Banderas, of the 14300 block of Bradshaw Drive after police said he used the Internet to set up a meeting at The Mall in Columbia with "stephanielf."

Banderas told the trooper that he would bring condoms with him and meet her at the carousel and that they could go to a hotel from there, according to charging documents. He then sent the trooper a picture of himself, according to the documents.

He was arrested when he arrived at the mall ride July 2, police said.

He has since been released on $15,000 bond.

The grand jury also returned indictments yesterday against a Columbia man accused of sexually assaulting a 5-year-old girl while she and her brother were riding their bikes at Jackson Pond in Columbia and against a Suitland man accused of fatally shooting a woman who was pregnant with his child.

Miguel Ramos, 34, of the 5800 block of Stevens Forest Road, was indicted on third-degree sexual offense and second-degree assault charges in the July 27 incident at the pond. The girl told police that she and her brother met a man on a bridge and that he sexually abused her while her brother fished in the pond, according to charging documents.

The girl told police that she hit her attacker during the assault and knocked his cellular telephone into the pond. Divers found the phone, which was later tracked to Ramos, according to charging documents.

Ramos is being held in the Howard County Detention Center on $500,000 bond.

In the other case, Tjane C. Marshall, 27, of the 3900 block of Coach Lane in Suitland, was indicted on first-degree murder and gun charges in the death of 23-year-old Shameka Fludd, who police have said was four to five months pregnant.

Police found Fludd's body in her apartment in the 5800 block of Stevens Forest Road on May 4 after her grandmother called to say she was concerned that she had not heard from the young mother of two. Witnesses later told investigators that Marshall did not want the baby and was mad at Fludd for telling people she was pregnant, according to charging documents.

Marshall is being held at the Howard County Detention Center without bond.
