Experience European culture close to home Saturday at Hagerstown's Augustoberfest.

A summertime Oktoberfest, the event will celebrate the town's German heritage and its affiliation with its sister city, Wesel, Germany. The festivities will begin when the hospitality tent and Biergarten open at 11 a.m. Live musical entertainment, including German folk music, will highlight the all-day event. Admission is $8.

About wine making

Find out about wine making this weekend at Linganore Winecellars and Berrywine Plantations. At the Red Grape Escape Family Weekend, you'll learn about aroma and taste fermented grape juice that was made from grapes grown at the Mount Airy vineyard. This kid-friendly event, which starts at 10 a.m. Saturday, is free.

A morning foot race

The Baltimore Road Runners' Club will continue its Grand Prix series with a Sunday morning foot race.

The Too Hot to Trot 5 Miler, which will be held at the North Central Railroad Trail, is $2 for the public and free for BRRC members. Registration will take place on race day only. The race is to start at 8 a.m.
