Directors selected for Business Women's Network chapter

The Howard County chapter of the Business Women's Network, a nonprofit dedicated to promoting the advancement of women in business, has selected its 2003-2004 board of directors.

The selection of the board marks the beginning of the organization's 25th year.

President is Mary Ellen Marsalek, Farmers & Mechanics Bank; president-elect, Michele Cohen, Miles & Stockbridge PC; secretary, Alison Morrissey, Norbel School; treasurer, Cynthia Taliano, PCA Group; director of technology, Betty Myers, Kaleidosystems Inc.; hospitality, Trish Almasy, Gifts to Treasure Inc.; marketing, Jamie Costa, Patuxent Publishing; membership, Sandra Hicks, Arbonne International; programs, Beverly Carrigan, contemporary health for women; events, Bette Lucey, Farmers & Mechanics Bank; scholarship, Mary-Kay Boler, MKBoler Associates; past president, Suzanne Colvin, M&T; Bank.

Each director heads a committee of volunteers focused on services to support the organization and the community.

Sales techniques session slated Wednesday morning

The Baltimore-Washington Chamber of Commerce will offer "TIPS: Techniques & Ideas for Professional Salespeople - Creative Sales Techniques," from 8:15 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at chamber offices, 312 Marshall Ave., Suite 104, Laurel.

The program, led by the chamber's membership director, Nancy Hahn, will offer an opportunity to brainstorm about and discuss creative ideas that can be developed into strategic sales approaches.

Admission is free for members. The cost is $20 for nonmembers.
