CARTER, WILMER G.

WILMER GARNETT CARTER departed this life on Thursday, July 31, 2003, after a short illness in Deerfield Beach, FL. He was born March 12, 1915 in Brokenburg, VA to William Ryland and Olivia Fleming Carter. He is predeceased by his parents, his first wife, Margaret Gibson; and his son James Fleming Carter. "Wil" (Shorty) was a retired sales engineer with Gulf Oil/Chevron. He was very active in the Masonic Lodge in his earlier years and was always active in his church wherever he lived. After moving from PA to FL, he became the coordinator for Meals on Wheels for Bonita Springs, FL. He was active in the First Presbyterian Church of Bonita Springs and loved playing golf, boating and care-taking his neighbors' homes on Johnson Street. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Myers Carter of Deerfield Beach, FL; his sisters Elsie Collier and Lucy Carty, of Richmond, VA.; sisters-in-law Floriena Carter of Baltimore, MD. and Arnette Carter of Farmington Hills, MI; his sons W. Gibson Carter and wife Valerie of Lake Forest, CA.; William R. Carter and his wife Jan of Vinton, VA.; Chuck Myers and his wife Donna of Lighthouse Point, FL.; daughter Janice Demmy and husband Dana of Fremont, OH.; eight grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren. A Memorial graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2003, at 11:00 A.M., in the Masonic Garden at Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens, 200 East Padonia Road, Timonium, MD 21093.
