Carroll County announces roads projects

Carroll County Department of Public Works has announced road construction projects for this week.

Pavement reconstruction: Enterprise and Adam Smith streets from Klees Mill Road to Route 26.

Shoulder work: Bloom Road from Salem Bottom Road to Sams Creek Road; John Hyde, John Shelby and Jasontown roads from Springdale Road to Route 852.

Reconstruction: Ridge Road from Route 26 to Gemini Drive.

Storm drain work and reclaiming: Evergreen Hills subdivision, Marclee Road and Lewis Lane; Shawnee View subdivision; Streamwood subdivision, all streets.

Storm drain work and repaving: Village of Peachwood subdivision.

Paving: New Mexico subdivision off Route 27, all streets; Grave Run Road from Baltimore County to the state line.

Storm drain work: Cabbage Springs Road from Gillis Falls Road to Timber Ridge Drive; Iron Gate subdivision, all streets.

Reclaiming: Lawndale Acres subdivision, all streets.

Road closed: Alesia to Lineboro Road is closed to through-traffic between Route 86 and York Road No. 1 for storm drain work starting tomorrow. Motorists should follow the detour route.

Milling and patching: Bucher John Road from Middleburg Road to the Union Bridge town line; Old Baltimore Road from Route 140 to Route 97.

Reclamation and paving: Leppo Road from Old Hanover Road to Turkeyfoot Road.

SHA closes section of Sams Creek Road

The State Highway Administration has closed a portion of Sams Creek Road west of Route 27 while work continues to improve sight distance at the intersection of Route 27 and Sams Creek Road.

The closed portion of Sams Creek Road west of Route 27 will reopen to traffic next month, weather permitting.

Work includes lowering elevation of the road and the addition of left-turn lanes onto Sams Creek Road, as well as added acceleration/deceleration lanes along Route 27.

Temporary traffic signs will alert motorists to detour routes.

Motorists traveling north on Route 27 to Sams Creek Road will turn left onto westbound Route 26 (Liberty Road), then right onto Franklinville Road to Sams Creek Road.

Southbound Route 27 drivers will continue past Sams Creek Road to Route 26, go west on Route 26, turn right on Franklinville Road, then left onto Sams Creek Road.

Motorists westbound on Sams Creek Road (from east of Route 27) will turn left onto southbound Route 27, then right onto Route 26, and right onto Franklinville Road to Sams Creek Road.

Sams Creek Road will remain open to residential traffic.

The $833,360 contract was awarded to Wolfe and Sons of Middletown.
