Article on church provokes concern

In regard to Karen Rivers' July 27 article, "Teachers attend summer program on imparting environmental lessons," there is NO school at Mountain Christian Church.

Since any school must have a special exception to operate in an AG district, we questioned why this school was not required to do so.

Both Planning & Zoning and the Law Department decreed that this is not a school. It is a church function even though it accepts tuition from non-church members and even though this school accepts grant money from the state and feds.

Raven Maniac shows gratitude

I would like to take this time to personally thank you and your staff for the great article in the Harford County section in reference to my induction into the Hall of Fans, NFL Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio.

I have received many calls from my friends and co-workers informing me that they had read the article. I even had one of my classmates from high school, whom I had not talked to in 15 years, call me to congratulate me on this award. My phone has been ringing off the receiver, so the article reached out to many people.

I cannot express enough how much of a real pleasure it was to talk to Ms. Luciana Lopez during the interview. From the time that we met on the telephone, to the time that we finished the interview, she was so polite and showed nothing but kindness and true professionalism. We do many interviews being ultimate fans, and I have to say that Ms. Lopez was the most truthful and precise in the writing of the article that was published in the newspaper.

Again, thank you so much for all of your time and efforts, and letting me share my experience with Harford County. These types of articles are what make your newspaper No. 1 in our community. I am looking forward to working with you and your staff in the future.
