2002 Gaia Estate "14-18h" Agiorgitiko, Peloponnisos

THE BALTIMORE SUN

2002 Gaia Estate "14-18h" Agiorgitiko, Peloponnisos ($12). The Greek wine industry is making great strides, and this well-crafted rose (pink) wine is an excellent example. Crisp and dry, it rivals some of the best rose wines of Provence and California as a terrific warm-weather refreshment. It displays fine cherry and strawberry flavors, with nuances of minerals and herbs. (The 14-18h name, by the way, refers to the hours the juice is left on the skins of the red agiorgitiko grape to extract the bright pink color.)
