Hampton, VA. On Tuesday, July 22, 2003, RICHARD EDELEN "Dick" MUDD, III died at home after battling cancer for several years with dignity, strength and humor that inspired many. A veteran, Dick spent the last 29 years with Dominion Resources as a Nuclear Specialist, Outage and Planning Department at Surry Nuclear Power Plant in Virginia. Dick was preceded in death by his father, Richard E. Mudd, II, his step-mother Edith Mudd and his mother, Vernie Mudd. He is survived by his beloved wife, Marion "Moira" Mudd, of Hampton, four children, one brother and seven grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 PM Thursday at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home in downtown Hampton. A Funeral Service will be conducted 2 PM Friday in the funeral home chapel by Pastor Willie Vines. Interment will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park.
