Frederick 7, Myrtle Beach 4: Gary Cates hit his first homer, a three-run shot in the second inning, as the host Keys (13-12 second half) capped a series in which they won three of four from the Pelicans (7-17) at Harry Grove Stadium. Cates added a two-run single in the seventh.

Single-A South Atlantic League

Lakewood 5, Delmarva 1: Starter Cole Hamels (5-1) pitched six perfect innings with 11 strikeouts as the host BlueClaws (12-12) handed the Shorebirds (10-15) a second straight loss.

Hagerstown, 3-5, Lake County 2-6: The host Suns (13-11) split a doubleheader with the Captains (15-10). The Suns scored three first-inning runs against Jake Dittler (5-4) in the first game and made them stand. Brian Kirby and Eric Johnson hit back-to-back homers in the seventh and the Captains had the bases loaded, but the Suns' Matt Palmer struck out Micah Schilling for his league-best 22nd save. In the second game, the Suns took a 5-3 lead before the Captains rallied. Todd Pennington recorded the final five outs for his 15th save. Reliever Kevin Martin worked 1 2/3 innings for the win.

Hudson Valley 2, Aberdeen 1: With bases loaded and one out in the 14th, Gabriel Martinez hit a game-winning RBI single off losing pitcher T.W. Mincey (0-1).
