Sunday blooms with bouquet of concerts

Come mid-afternoon, music will be flowing all over town, as it does almost every Sunday during the concert season. Here are just a few of today's worthy choices.

The Baltimore Choral Arts Society welcomes jazz great Dave Brubeck for a concert featuring the local premiere of his cantata Beloved Son for jazz quartet, chorus and brass. The Morgan State University Choir will also participate in the program, which includes more Brubeck pieces, spirituals and gospel. The concert is at 3 p.m. today at Morgan State's Murphy Center for Performing Arts, Argonne and McCallum drives. Call 410-523-7070.

The choral mood continues with the Columbia Pro Cantare and Second Presbyterian Choir teaming up for John Rutter's tender Requiem. The concert is at 3:30 p.m. today at Second Presbyterian Church, 4200 St. Paul St. Call 410-465-7544.

And four members of the Baltimore Opera's young artist program will sing selections from opera, operetta and Broadway at 4 p.m. today at Shriver Hall, Johns Hopkins University, 3400 N. Charles St. Call 410-516-7157.
