Two people were killed last night and one person escaped injury when a fire ripped through a mobile home in a wooded area about 10 miles east of Bel Air.
The victims' names were withheld pending identification by the state medical examiner's office in Baltimore.
Reported at 6:28 p.m., the single-alarm fire raced through the aluminum, 12-by-60-foot trailer in the 1600 block of Schucks Road, said Deputy Chief Mark A. Bilger of the state fire marshal's office.
He said the fire reduced the trailer to a mass of melted aluminum and charred furniture.
Bilger said the owner of the trailer, Janette Ayers, 73, escaped the flames and dense smoke. The bodies were found amid burned debris in the trailer's living room, Bilger added.
Forty firefighters manning nearly a dozen pieces of equipment from stations at Bel Air, Level and Abingdon battled the blaze. The cause was under investigation.
