16-year-old boy is fatally shot in W. Baltimore

A 16-year-old boy was fatally shot Wednesday night a block from his West Baltimore home, police said.

Marcus Davon Johnson of the 1500 block of N. Fulton Ave. was found lying on the ground in the 1500 block of McKean Ave. about 10:50 p.m. He was suffering from a gunshot wound to his torso, police said.

Johnson died about 30 minutes later at Maryland Shock Trauma Center. A 17-year-old boy was shot in the ankle in the same incident, police said.

Relatives said Johnson was a quiet boy who loved sports and did not get into trouble.

"He was a very good boy," said his grandmother, Joann Brewer. "He was a quiet guy."

Detectives said they knew of no suspects or motives in the shooting.

Yesterday, police also released the identities of two other victims of violence:

James Irving, 18, of the 2000 block of South Dallas Court was fatally shot about 1 a.m. Wednesday in the 4400 block of Frederick Ave., police said.

Irving and a 17-year-old girl were sitting in a car when they were approached by a gunman. The girl was treated for a gunshot wound to the arm. Irving died at Shock Trauma.

Tariq Javed, 53, of the 3800 block of Governors Run in Ellicott City was identified as the man who was shot Tuesday during a robbery at his Murry's Steaks business in the 3400 block of Clifton Ave. Javed was in critical condition on life support at Shock Trauma, police said.
