ROBERT MARTIN BARCZAK, 60, died on February 13, 2003 at his home in Grass Valley. Born on June 7, 1942 in Baltimore, MD, he was one of four sons to Mary and Henry Barczak. He graduatedfrom Mergenthaler High School and served in the United StatesAir Force, where he then movedto California. He was an adventurous outdoors man who loved his gold expeditions and treasured his home in the "Gold Country" in California. He was the first member of the Goldhounds and enjoyed the many friendships he made there throughout the years. He was a true craftsman at whatever he did whether working at home making jewelry or inventing a new machine to find gold. He is surivived by his loving wife of 39 years, Theresa R. Barczak (nee Menalis), a native of Baltimore, MD; his brother Frank Barczak; sister-in-law Jeanette Barczak both of Baltimore, MD and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. There will be no service and his spirit will remain in the "Gold Country". The family request that memorial contributions be made to The Nevada Law Enforcement and Fire Protection Council, 709 Sutton Way, Suite B, Grass Valley, CA 95945. The Funeral Home handling the cremation was The Chapel of the Angels, 250 Race St. Grass Valley, CA 95945.
