Israeli militarism to be topic of talk at McDaniel College

Talila Kosh-Zohar, a founding member of the Israeli anti-militarist group New Profile will give a talk, "I Refuse to Be an Enemy: A Personal Account of Being a Peace Activist in Israel Today," at 8 p.m. tomorrow in McDaniel Lounge at McDaniel College.

Formed in 1998, New Profile is made up of 150 Israeli women who oppose what they describe as the increasing militarization of Israeli society and offer support to women whom they say are abused by that society.

Kosh-Zohar is also a literary scholar specializing in critical feminist reading of Israeli literature. She is currently pursuing a doctorate on literature of the Holocaust.

The lecture is open to the public.

Minnich to speak to NAACP on Thursday

Carroll County Branch 7014 of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People will meet Thursday at Westminster Senior Center.

An executive meeting will be held at 6 p.m., followed by the general membership meeting at 7 p.m. County Commissioner Dean L. Minnich will speak and answer questions.

The senior center is at 125 Stoner Ave.
