Top-ranked Neal ruled ineligible

THE BALTIMORE SUN

Glen Burnie sophomore Justin Neal, the No. 1 heavyweight in The Sun's rankings, was declared academically ineligible on Friday and was not able to compete in yesterday's Anne Arundel County wrestling tournament.

Report cards were issued on Feb. 14, and Neal was originally penciled in as the top seed at heavyweight after Thursday night's seeding meeting. It was realized on Friday afternoon that he was ineligible.

"Ultimately, he's ineligible. You got a kid everyone expected to do very well [yesterday], but, unfortunately, he didn't get in the lineup. There's nothing more to be said," said Glen Burnie coach Corey Fowler.
