William I. Currie, 74, real estate appraiser

William I. Currie, a real estate appraiser, died Sunday of a heart attack at his Towson home. He was 74.

Born in Staunton, Va., he earned an economics degree at Roanoke College. He also took real estate and appraising courses.

In 1974, he founded William I. Currie & Associates, a Northeast Baltimore real estate appraisal firm. He had earlier been a partner in Wilson & Currie and sold real estate through W. Burton Guy beginning in 1956.

A past member of the Virginians of Maryland and the Society of Colonial Wars, he was a past president of the Baltimore Junior Association of Commerce and the Appraisal Institute's Maryland chapter. He was also a former board member of the Chamber of Commerce of Greater Baltimore.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. today at Towson Presbyterian Church, 400 W. Chesapeake Avenue.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, the former Lucy Ashby Graves; three daughters, L. Ashby Currie and Sara "Sally" R. Vuncannon, both of Forest Hill, and Anne C. Currie of Towson; and four grandchildren.
