Insurance help offered by state organization
A representative from the Maryland Insurance Administration will be at the state comptroller's office, 532 Baltimore Blvd., Suite 306, in Westminster, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday.
Residents with questions about their insurance coverage or who need help in filing a complaint against their insurance company are welcome to attend.

Real estate office plans introductory class
Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage's School of Real Estate offers a class, "Principles of Real Estate," at offices throughout the region for anyone interested in becoming a Realtor.
The Westminster office will hold its next class from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays, and from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays tomorrow to March 15.

Pappalardo appointed chairwoman of chamber
Faye Pappalardo, president of Carroll Community College, has been appointed to a one-year term as chairwoman of the board of the Carroll County Chamber of Commerce.
She will work with chamber President Bonnie Grady to support of the organization's activities and services to the business community. Pappalardo also will conduct board meetings and attend the chamber's monthly events.
Pappalardo has been on the chamber's board since 1998.
Westminster restaurants contribute to United Way
A number of Westminster-area restaurants recently participated in the "Feast For Charity" for the United Way Community Partnership of Carroll County.
Five restaurants donated a total of $735 through the event.
Participating restaurants were: Cactus Willie's Steak Buffet & Bakery, Harry's Main Street Grille, Maggie's Restaurant, the Pour House Cafe and Texas Road House.
Carroll Lutheran welcomes visitors from Bangladesh
Carroll Lutheran Village recently welcomed a couple from Bangladesh who were visiting with members of Lions Clubs in the Eastern United States.
Saiful Bari Tutul and his wife, Shahana Bari, were guests of village residents Harold Dalton and Charles Jones, members of the Freedom District Lions Club.
Saiful Bari Tutul is president of his Lions Club in Dhaka, Bangladesh. He owns a real estate business. Shahana Bari is a dental surgeon.
Carroll Lutheran Village President and Chief Executive Officer Geary Milliken gave the couple a tour of the different levels of care available at the village.
Retirement communities are not known in Bangladesh, where most older people live with their children when they become unable to care for themselves.
New real estate office opens in Hampstead
Kerry R. Mitchell has opened real estate company Access Real Estate Services Inc. in Hampstead.
She was formerly with Long & Foster Real Estate.
Mitchell specializes in residential real estate in Carroll, Baltimore, Howard and Harford counties.
