Mary Evelyn Sommer, a homemaker who was active in social clubs, died of an aneurysm Tuesday at North Arundel Hospital.
The Riviera Beach resident was 86.
Born Mary Evelyn McShane in Baltimore and raised on Edmondson Avenue, she attended St. Edward Parochial School. She graduated in 1934 from Seton High School.
As a young woman she worked for Baltimore Gas and Electric Co. and modeled clothing for Howard Street department stores.
She was a secretary and rental chairman of the Stoney Creek Democratic Club, secretary of the St. Jane Seniors at her church.
She also belonged to the ladies auxiliary of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2462 in Bayside Beach.
Her husband of 56 years, Harold George Julius Sommer, a Baltimore police officer and Air Force major, died in 1995.
Services will be held at 9:30 a.m. today at St. Jane Frances de Chantal Roman Catholic Church, 8499 Virginia Ave., Pasadena.
Survivors include a daughter, Dawn Marie Coleman of Chester; a brother, Frank McShane of Timonium; and a granddaughter.
