Synagogue slates tap dancing show at Smith Theatre
Oseh Shalom, 7515 Olive Branch Way, Laurel, will sponsor "Tops in Tap," a performance by Baakari Wilder, Tappers with Attitude and the Step Aside Tap Company, at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at Smith Theatre, Howard Community College, 10901 Little Patuxent Parkway, Columbia.
A dessert reception with the cast is planned after the show.
Tickets are $20; $12.50 for students in advance. A limited number of tickets will be available at the door for $25. Proceeds will go to the Oseh Shalom Youth and Community Support program.
The synagogue will hold a Family Shabbat service this evening. Tot Shabbat is to begin at 7:15 p.m.; family services will begin at 8 p.m.
Oseh Shalom is affiliated with the Reconstructionist movement of Judaism.

Sames jazz quintet to perform at church
First Lutheran Church, 3604 Chatham Road, Ellicott City, will continue its Artist Series Concerts with a performance by the Barry Sames Jazz Quintet at 3 p.m. Sunday.
The jazz group, which is based in a Philadelphia church, performs Latin-flavored, ethno-fusion jazz in a concert of sacred music. Sames, who has performed jazz vespers concerts since 1990, was the co-founder of the five-piece band INSYNK.
The cost is $15; children to age 17 pay $5. Tickets are available in advance. The worship space is wheelchair accessible. Large-print hymnals and worship bulletins are available, as are sound enhancers for the hearing impaired.

Jewish groups to hold program for children
Columbia Jewish Congregation, Beth Shalom Congregation and Jewish Education Enrichment Projects will sponsor "Tunes 'N' Tales: Jewish Fun for Kids and Parents," a program for young children, from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Sunday at Claret Hall in River Hill Village Center, Columbia.
Becky Gordon and the Yofi Tofi Puppets and Mr. Twister the Magical Balloon-A-Tie will perform. Refreshments will be served.
