Howard County police arrested two burglary suspects yesterday after they led them on a nearly 15-mile chase through the county, authorities said.
Neighbors reported two suspicious men leaving a home in the 12400 block of Triadelphia Road near West Friendship about 1:15 p.m. and getting into a gray Dodge Caravan, police said.
When police tried to stop the pair, they fled in the van and led officers at high speeds through Ellicott City and south on U.S. 29, police said.
When the van left the road and became stuck in mud near the Gorman Road overpass, the suspects fled on foot, police said. One was taken into custody near the vehicle while the other was captured in a residential area.
Officers later found jewelry in the van and discovered that the house on Triadelphia Road had been ransacked, police said.
Police were working to identity the suspects last night and said the pair likely will be charged with fleeing and eluding police, burglary and theft.
