Margaret Schoenbrodt, 83, homemaker, elections clerk

Margaret M. Schoenbrodt, a homemaker and former Howard County elections clerk, died Saturday of complications from diabetes at Laurel Regional Hospital. The Ellicott City resident was 83.

She was the chief clerk of Howard County's Board of Elections from 1971 to 1981.

Born in Baltimore and raised in Brooklyn, Margaret Meyer was a 1938 graduate of Southern High School. She earned a diploma from Strayer Business College.

Her husband of 62 years, Frederick K. Schoenbrodt, former president of the Howard County Board of Education, died in August.

Services will be held at 4 p.m. Friday at First Evangelical Lutheran Church of Ellicott City, 3601 Chatham Road.

Survivors include a son, Dr. Fred A. Schoenbrodt of Ellicott City; two daughters, Lisa Schoenbrodt-Myers of Ellicott City and Peggy Sheer of Columbia; a sister, Dolores Swinson of Ellicott City; nine grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
