Robert Anthony Bourek, a veteran Baltimore delivery driver and softball aficionado, died of a heart attack while working Tuesday, delivering printing materials for Alliance Inc. at the Government Printing Office in Washington. He was 65.

A resident of Dundalk, Mr. Bourek was born in East Baltimore and graduated from Polytechnic Institute in 1956. He served in the Army from 1963 to 1965 at Fort Leavenworth, Kan.

He played basketball in the Army, and, after his discharge, played and umpired softball games for more than 20 years. He was a member of the Old-timers Fast Pitch Softball Association of Maryland, and of the Ducky Club of Canton, a social club.

"He was wonderful, easygoing and lots and lots of fun," said his longtime companion, Nancy K. Johnson of Dundalk.

For the past year, he drove delivery trucks for Alliance Inc., a private nonprofit group that works with the developmentally disabled.

A memorial service is scheduled at 5 p.m. tomorrow at the Shrine of the Little Flower Roman Catholic Church, 2854 Brendan Ave.

Survivors include a cousin, Beatrice Kaspar of White Marsh.
