One killed, 2 hurt in shooting in city grocery store

THE BALTIMORE SUN

One man was shot to death and two others were wounded last night as they stood inside a tiny West Baltimore carryout, police said.

The men -- ages 20 to 30, whose names were not released -- entered Father & Son Grocery in the 800 block of N. Monroe St. about 7:40 p.m., followed moments later by a man who opened fire with a semiautomatic handgun, hitting each man in the head and upper body, said homicide Detective Frank Miller.

All three appeared to have been intended targets, Miller said.

The victims were taken by ambulances to Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where one of the men died about 10 p.m. One man was in serious condition; the other was in critical condition, Miller said.
