Civil rights leader to speak at King service at St. Paul's
BROOKLANDVILLE -- Civil rights leader Ruby Sales will be the speaker at the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. memorial service at 9 a.m. Monday at St. Paul's School.
Sales was participating in a civil rights picket in 1965 in Lowndes County Ala., with a seminarian Jonathan Daniels, when Daniels was fatally shot with a bullet intended for her.
Sales is the director of SpiritHOuse, a national organization in Washington that uses art, education, research and reflection to support a nonviolent struggle for justice. She will speak in the school chapel. Information: 410-825-4400, Ext. 3075.
