Realtors sponsor free workshop on homeownership
The Greater Baltimore Board of Realtors will hold a free homeownership workshop this week for prospective buyers.
Topics to be covered include: pre-qualification for government programs, how to shop for a mortgage, how to choose a real estate agent and the homebuying process.
The session is scheduled from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Jan. 11, at the group's Lutherville office, 1306 Bellona Ave. For more information, call 410-337-7200.
Green Building parley coming to Baltimore
The National Association of Home Builders Research Center will hold its fifth annual National Green Building Conference in the spring in Baltimore.
The conference, which focuses on environmental homebuilding, includes tours, exhibits, classes and awards. It will be first time the conference has been held on the East Coast. The research center is based in Upper Marlboro.
Registration information for the conference, which is scheduled for March 30 to April 1 at the Marriott Waterfront, is available at www.nahbrc.org or by calling 888-602-4663. The cost is $250 for group members and $300 for nonmembers before Jan. 13; after that, registration fees are $300 for members and $350 for nonmembers. One-day registration is $175.
Fyle, Luther head Harford, Cecil chapters of HBAM
The Home Builders Association of Maryland named two presidents to its Harford and Cecil county chapters last month.
Al Fyle Jr. of Lin-Mar Development Corp. is the new president of the Harford County chapter. He is president of Fallston-based Lin-Mar Development Corp. Fyle has been with the company for 27 years.
He succeeds Don Sample of Universal Housing Corp.
Bill Luther of Gemcraft Homes was named president of the Cecil County chapter for a second term.
Luther is president of the Fallston-based Gemcraft Homes and has been a member of the Cecil County chapter since 1995.
The Home Builders Association of Maryland is one of the industry's oldest and represents more than 1,200 members in construction, remodeling, suppliers, lenders and others housing businesses.
