Bel Air teen faces charges in shooting

THE BALTIMORE SUN

BEL AIR - Harford sheriff's deputies arrested a 14-year-old boy yesterday and charged him with attempted murder in the New Year's Eve shooting of his 15-year-old friend, a spokeswoman said.

Daryl R. Green, 14, of the 900 block of Hillswood Court in Bel Air was arrested about 10:15 a.m. without incident at his home, said Ginger Rigney, spokeswoman for the Harford Sheriff's Office. Green was charged as an adult in the incident, which happened shortly before 11 a.m. Tuesday at a home in the 500 block of Eastview Terrace in Abingdon, Rigney said.

The victim, whose name has not been released, remains in Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center in Baltimore, she said. His condition was not immediately known yesterday afternoon, she said.

Green and the victim were in the home of another teen-ager in the Dominion Constant Friendship Apartments when the victim was shot in the chest with a .38-caliber revolver, Rigney said.

Green faces numerous charges, Rigney said, including attempted first-degree murder, attempted second-degree murder, first- and second-degree assault, use of a handgun during the commission of a felony and possession of a firearm with an altered identification number.

Green is being held at the Harford County Detention Center without bond, Rigney said, until a bond review hearing Monday.
