2 roads closed as heavy rains hit area

THE BALTIMORE SUN

Last night's heavy rains had a minimal effect on area roads, resulting in the closure of only two roads, local police and fire officials said.

The 2900 block of Falls Road in Baltimore was closed due to high waters, according to police.

The Anne Arundel County Roads Department closed Brock Ridge Road in Laurel because of flooding about 10 p.m., according to the Anne Arundel Fire Department.

In Howard County, the State Highway Administration put up signs about 8 p.m. alerting motorists of high waters on Washington Boulevard near Whiskey Bottom Road, and Old Frederick Road near Melba Road, Howard police said.

Baltimore County and Carroll County reported some flooding of basements in homes.

At 10:25 last night, the National Weather Service canceled a flood watch for these areas: northern and southern Baltimore, and Washington, Carroll, Frederick, Howard, Montgomery, Anne Arundel, Prince George's and Harford counties.
