Frederick police have arrested one man and are looking for another in the alleged drugging, kidnapping and rape of a 31-year-old woman early yesterday.
Police charged 19-year-old Napoleon Lopez Romero of Frederick with first- and second-degree rape, second-degree assault and kidnapping.
Police said Romero and the other man might have used a "date rape drug," a sedative that can be slipped into an alcoholic drink to incapacitate a potential victim.
Officer Stephen Scalf said police received a call about 4:15 a.m. from a woman who said she had spent the night at a pool hall with some friends and family members.
She said she was drinking a beer and that there were times when she had left her drink unattended.
'There could have been an opportunity then for the suspect to drop something down in her beer," Scalf said.
The woman told police that at the end of the evening she walked into the parking lot with a few of the men who had been playing pool at the next table over.
They handed her another beer, she said, and the next thing she remembers is waking up on a couch in an unfamiliar apartment and finding herself being assaulted by several men.
She told police she forced the men off her and fled the apartment.
