Dr. David A. Oursler, 73, cardiologist, woodworker
Dr. David A. Oursler, a retired cardiologist, died Monday of complications from diabetes at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. The St. Michaels resident was 73.
Born in Baltimore and raised in the Montebello section of Northeast Baltimore, he graduated from City College in 1948. He graduated from the Johns Hopkins University in 1952 and from the University of Maryland Medical School in 1955. He later served his residency at the University of Virginia.
He had a private cardiology practice on St. Paul Street, which he later moved to St. Joseph Medical Center. He was on the staffs of St. Agnes HeathCare, Johns Hopkins Hospital, Greater Baltimore Medical Center and St. Joseph Medical Center, where he was chief of cardiology.
In 1990, Dr. Oursler retired from his practice and moved to St. Michaels in Talbot County. He enjoyed woodworking, boating, and model trains, and was an avid supporter at his sons' athletic events. His marriage to N. Jean Oursler of Lutherville ended in divorce after 35 years.
Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. today at Christ Episcopal Church in St. Michael's.
Dr. Oursler is survived by his wife of 11 years, the former Deborah Cox; four sons, Mark A. Oursler of Severna Park, Dr. D. Paul Oursler of Ashland, Ore., Douglas A. Oursler of Columbia and Timothy J. Oursler of Towson; and eight grandchildren.
