The River Hill High School Music Department will present a Jazz and Percussion Concert by its Jazz and Percussion Ensembles at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 9 in the school auditorium, 12101 Route 108, Clarksville.
The Indoor Drumline, a percussion ensemble, will demonstrate techniques; the Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Combo will perform jazz, swing and big-band music.

"MadJazz," a concert by the Madrigal Singers, Gentlemen's Quartet, Women's Choir, Concert Choir, Jazz Band and others, will be held at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 31 in the school's cafeteria. Desserts will be available.
The name "MadJazz" is a combination of Madrigal Singers and Jazz Band.

Children's programs set at Glenwood library
The Glenwood library branch, 2350 Route 97, Cooksville, will offer children's programs next month:
"Winter Wonderland," stories and songs for children ages 2 to 5 with an adult, at 7 p.m. Jan. 9.
"Plant a Reader," a story time series for ages 2 and 3 with an adult, will be offered at 6:30 p.m. Mondays, Jan. 13-Feb. 10. No program will be held Jan. 20, the federal holiday in honor of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr., when the library will be closed.
"Chillin' in Alaska," stories, games and a craft related to Alaska for ages 4 to 7, at 7 p.m. Jan. 15.

Stamp collector to speak at library
Stamp collector Lynn Stiegler will answer questions about her hobby at 10:30 a.m. Jan. 11 at the Glenwood library branch. Stiegler learned philately from her father, whose collection she inherited.
Stamp enthusiasts - children, young people and adults - are invited. Participants can trade surplus stamps at a "stamp swap." Seasoned collectors might have stamps to share with beginners.

Graduates: Army Pvt. Clinton L. Mooney, son of Mark Mooney of Woodbine, has graduated from basic combat military training at Fort Sill in Lawton, Okla. He is a 1993 graduate of Glenelg High School.
Graduates: Army Spec. Curtis Kinzey, son of Kathryn Kinzey of Dayton, has graduated from basic combat military training at Fort Sill. He is a 1992 graduate of Wilde Lake High School.
Promoted: Stephen W. Bloch, a 1993 graduate of Glenelg Country School, was promoted to Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class while serving aboard the aircraft carrier USS George Washington, which is based in Norfolk, Va.
