New two-lane ramp to upper-level road to open Jan. 9

Traffic at Baltimore-Washington International Airport will shift to two new lanes leading to the upper-level road beginning Jan. 9.

Traffic will be directed by signs and barricades. The existing two-lane ramp to the road will be used as a sidewalk for Pier A, which is being extended by 12 gates for Southwest Airlines. If work on the road is delayed, the shift will occur Jan. 13.

Drivers are encouraged to use the 30 minutes of free parking available in the short-term garage when dropping off or picking up passengers.

Blood drive is today on international pier

A blood drive will be held from 8 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. today on the international pier.

High-speed Internet access available at three locations

Wireless high-speed Internet access has been installed by Wise Technologies in three locations at BWI.

The service, which allows travelers to play games and access e-mail and the Internet, can be found at CK's Lounge between Piers B and C, the Beer Garden on Pier C and the University Lounge on Pier D.

Patrons can purchase or borrow wireless network cards at each location. A PayPerUse program 25 cents a minute, unlimited daily access is available for $7.95 and monthly plans are available starting at $15.95.
