A Montgomery County woman was fatally injured yesterday when the car she was driving was struck by another vehicle as she left a driveway in Mount Airy, police said.

Margie Leona Willis, 74, of the 2700 block of Goldmine Road in Brookeville was driving a 1994 Pontiac Bonneville south on Route 27 near Braddock Road in Carroll County about 4:15 p.m. when she pulled onto the shoulder, and backed into a private driveway to turn around, state police said.

When Willis was turning left from the driveway to head north, her car was struck by a southbound 1988 Ford Bronco, police said. The other driver, whose name was not released, was not injured, police said.

Willis was flown by helicopter to Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where she died.
