Common Ground to present holiday concert at college
Common Ground on the Hill will present its third holiday concert, featuring Sangmele, from 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. today in Alumni Hall Theatre at McDaniel College.
The concert will include blues, folk, gospel and seasonal music.
Performers will include Lea Gilmore on vocals; Walt Michael, founder of Common Ground, on guitar, hammered dulcimer and vocals; Henry Reiff on bass and vocals; and Walter Liniger on harmonica, guitar and vocals.
Tickets will be sold at the door for general seating. The cost is $15 for adults, $10 for people age 65 and older and $5 for students with valid identification. Admission is free for children age 12 and younger.

Comedy folk/rock singer to appear at Pour House
Comedy folk/rock singer Dan Hart will perform at the Pour House Cafe in Westminster from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. tomorrow.
A former clinical psychologist who recently moved from Boston to the Baltimore area, Hart incorporates humor into his songs.
He left the psychology field nine years ago to write and sing his music.
He has recorded two CDs, Apocalypse Now and Then and The Life of Dan.

TownMall to present holiday concerts tomorrow
The Twelve Bassoons of Christmas will perform a holiday concert at 11 a.m. tomorrow at TownMall of Westminster.
The group is composed of students, former students and friends of Norma Hooks, a bassoon teacher in Carroll County. Lori Douglas will conduct the group. The Twelve Bassoons has played at the mall for the past 11 years.
A second holiday concert will be given at 1 p.m. tomorrow at the mall by the Holiday Horns, a group of amateur and professional French horn players. Teacher and conductor Phil Hooks plans to play a Christmas tune on his 12-foot-long Alpine horn.

Productions for children to be held at Baldwin's
Baldwin's Station will offer its Children's Theatre series in the winter. Performances will be given by Duet Productions, a nonprofit organization.
Cinderella will be performed Jan. 12. In this version, which incorporates traditional and modern elements, a jazz trumpeter trying to make it big in the palace must fend off the advances of one of the wicked stepsisters.
On Feb. 9, Snow White comes to the stage. This story is told from the seven dwarves' point of view, and in this production, big people are in trouble, especially the evil queen.
All shows will begin at 3 p.m. and last less than an hour.
Tickets are $6.95 per person; children age 2 and younger will be admitted free.
Viewers may eat lunch with the actors after the show. Advance tickets are recommended.
