Elliott Arvid Johnson, 76, sales engineer

Elliott Arvid Johnson, a retired sales engineer, died Dec. 13 of complications after heart surgery at Washington Hospital Center in the District of Columbia. The Heritage Harbour resident was 76.

Before he retired a decade ago, he represented several electrical heating element companies in a sales territory that included Maryland, Delaware, Northern Virginia and the District of Columbia. He was earlier a vice president for sales for the Laurel-based heating element manufacturer ElectoTherm.

Born in Bloomer, Wis., and raised in New Hampton, Iowa, he earned a degree in engineering from Iowa State University in Ames.

During World War II, he was a naval fireman first class in the Pacific aboard the USS Wharton.

He was a member of the Crownsville American Legion Post, Odenton Genial Genealogists and the Anne Arundel Genealogical Society.

Services were held Tuesday.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, the former Dorothy Mae Lacy; two sons, Stephen Elliott Johnson of Crystal Lake, Ill., and Randall Scott Johnson of Aliso Viejo, Calif.; a daughter, Doria Lynn Rindos of Arnold; a brother, Malcolm Johnson of Hartsburg, Mo.; and seven grandchildren.
