Anthony F. Starzynski, 85, American Can Co. foreman

Anthony F. Starzynski, a former American Can Co. foreman and East Baltimore resident, died of a heart attack Friday at a hospital in North Providence, R.I. He was 85.

A Baltimore native, Mr. Starzynski was raised on Luzerne Avenue and attended city public schools. During World War II, he served stateside with the Army Supply Corps.

He worked for more than 20 years as a shipping department foreman at the old American Can plant on Boston Street in Canton. He retired in 1970, and had lived in North Providence since 1976.

Mr. Starzynski formerly attended St. Casimir Roman Catholic Church in Canton, and was a member of an American Legion post in Rhode Island.

He was married for 55 years to Carmella Costello, who died in February.

Mr. Starzynski was a communicant and usher at St. Anthony's Roman Catholic Church in North Providence, where a Mass of Christian burial was offered yesterday.

He is survived by a daughter, Lucille Marshall of North Providence; a brother, Albert Starzynski of Baltimore; and several nephews and nieces.
