Marion Wiles Meyer, 72, teacher's aide, homemaker

Marion Wiles Meyer, a homemaker and accomplished needleworker, died of a stroke Dec. 10 at Greater Baltimore Medical Center. She was 72.

Born Marion Wiles in Washington and raised in Alexandria, Va., she was known as "Midge" since childhood.

She earned her bachelor's degree in science and home economics in 1952 from what is now Radford University, and that year married Charles B. Meyer Jr. She and her husband, a retired Chesapeake & Potomac Telephone Co. employee, lived for many years on Warwick Drive in Lutherville until moving to Timonium in 1988.

During the early 1950s, Mrs. Meyer worked in the Johns Hopkins University computer laboratory. In the 1960s, she was a teacher's aide and substitute teacher in Baltimore County elementary schools and worked in technical services at Baltimore County's Towson library branch.

She was working in computer data entry for Grempler Real Estate at the time of her retirement in the early 1980s.

Mrs. Meyer was an avid cross-stitcher and enjoyed making clothes for her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed traveling and spending time at a second home at Deep Creek Lake.

She was an active member for 45 years of Holy Comforter Episcopal Church in Lutherville, where services were held Friday.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Meyer is survived by two sons, Ronald B. Meyer of Bethesda and Jeffrey D. Meyer of Sykesville; a daughter, V. Lynn Meyer of Arbutus; a sister, Ann Wiles English of Pawley's Island, S.C.; and two grandchildren.
