Tour 20 museums in Frederick County Saturday at the annual "Museums by Candlelight," presented by the Frederick Historic Sites Consortium. The museums are opening their doors so that visitors may enjoy free self-guided tours, seasonal music, living-history portrayals, traditional crafts, hearth cooking and hands-on children's activities.
Participating museums in the city of Frederick are the Children's Museum of Rose Hill Manor Park, the Frederick County Fire and Rescue Museum and Preservation Society, the Historical Society of Frederick County, the Delaplaine Visual Arts Education Center, the National Museum of Civil War Medicine, the Maryland Room of the C. Burr Artz Central Library, the Steiner House, the Roger Brooke Taney House, the Key Memorial Chapel, the Hessian Barracks and the Prospect Hall Mansion.
Participating museums in Frederick County are the Seton Shrine Center, the Cunningham Falls State Park Visitor Center and the Catoctin Furnace, the Gambrill Mansion, the Middletown Valley Historical Society, the Dahlgren Chapel, the Ostertag Farm, the South Mountain Heritage Society, the George Alfred Townsend Museum and the Brunswick Railroad Museum.
