Country music association slates meeting for Sunday
The Sykesville Bluegrass and Country Music Association will meet from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at Sykesville American Legion Post 223, 7327 Slacks Road. The group promotes bluegrass and country music, performs for benefits and charitable groups.
Meetings start with a potluck lunch, followed by music. Interested musicians are welcome.

Eldersburg library offers story time, book club
Eldersburg branch library, 6400 W. Hemlock Drive, is offering:
"Year-round Family Story Time" for all ages (age 3 and younger with an adult) at 7 p.m. today on "Hungry Animals," and 9:45 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. Monday on "Make a Wish."
Eldersburg Book Club for adults at 2 p.m. Saturday to discuss Christmas Potpourri.
"Basic Internet" for adults at 7 p.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday. Registration is required.

Tae Kwon Do academy honored for performance
Sykesville Tae Kwon Do Academy Inc. was presented with the Outstanding School Award by President Se Yong Chang, Maryland State Tae Kwon Do Association of the United States Tae Kwon Do Union.
The award was presented for the academy's performance at the 2002 State Championships, Junior Olympic State Championships, and Maryland Tae Kwon Do Festival.
The academy was credited with helping Maryland finish third nationally in the Junior Olympics.
Master Bun Huor, a fifth-degree black belt, has coached the Sykesville Junior Olympic team for 14 years, winning medals on a regular basis. Huor is chief instructor at Sykesville Tae Kwon Do Academy at Carrolltown Center in Eldersburg.

Freedom Lions Club lends health equipment to needy
Freedom District Lions Club has health equipment available for loan to the needy.
The Freedom Lions Club has wheelchairs, crutches, canes, potty chairs, electric beds and miscellaneous sick room equipment available to anyone in the community who has a short-term need for a health equipment item. Much of the equipment has been donated to the club. Use of the equipment is free, but donations are accepted and used to purchase additional health items.
Anyone in need of equipment can call the club at 410-549- LION (5466). Anyone with borrowed equipment from the Lions Club who no longer needs it is asked to return it.
Donations of any health equipment in good repair are welcome.
