A COALITION of north county community groups, the Crestwood Improvement Association, North Linthicum Improvement Association, Linthicum-Shipley Improvement Association and Taxpayers Improvement Association of Patapsco Park Inc. from Pumphrey, is holding a presentation by the Mass Transit Administration about the proposed maglev project.
The MTA will present an update, including the latest route alignment, on the project at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the auditorium at Lindale Middle School near Andover and Hammonds Ferry roads in Linthicum. Attendees are encouraged to use the main school entrance or the north entrance near the auditorium.
Mike Daniel, president of the Linthicum-Shipley Improvement Association, said this will be an opportunity to hear the latest information about the project. "The MTA is nearing the completion of the Environmental Impact Study, one of the final stages before the federal government chooses between the Baltimore-Washington project or the Pittsburgh project," Daniel said.
Barry Catterton, president of the Crestwood Improvement Association, said maglev is not a dead issue, and he encourages everyone to attend this meeting. "The project faces a lot of barriers, including the opposition of affected communities, but at this point it is still very much alive and demands our continued attention," Catterton said.
