AT A MEETING tomorrow, Linda Fitzpatrick will be installed as the president of the Brooklyn Heights Improvement Association.
Joining Fitzpatrick will be the rest of the association's executive team, Vice President Mike Connell, Recording Secretary Angie Smith, Treasurer Derrick Myers and Secretary Virginia Eidinger.
The new members at large are Roy Bartolomeo, representing the 1st District, Sharon Dehn from the 2nd District and Lynn Shifflett from the 3rd District.
Fitzpatrick is a relative newcomer to the community, having moved here two years ago.
"I grew up in Parkville and we lived in the [Baltimore] city. We have family in this area. It's a very nice area," she said.
Fitzpatrick said she was active in the community when she lived in Parkville and thought that the move to Brooklyn Heights would give her time to relax.
"When I moved here, I just wanted to sit back. I didn't want to get involved, but here I am," she said, adding that increasing membership will be a top concern.
"I'm already very involved in the Girl Scouts, and I work full time. But I'll have lots of support here," Fitzpatrick added.
Eidinger, the outgoing president, offered her congratulations to the new team.
"I would like to thank the BHIA and its members for allowing me to serve as your president for the past two years. I would like to extend my congratulations to the newly elected officers and give them my full support," she said.
The BHIA will meet at 7 p.m. tomorrow at the Brooklyn Park Library, 1 E. 11th Ave. Light refreshments will be served.
